HISTORY, ENVIRONMENT & ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF THE BANK

The Bank started commercial operations at the Head office, Kpeve in 1983 and has since opened 5 other branches at Dzemeni, Logba, Hohoe 1998, Kpedze 2001 and Kpando 2004. The Dzemeni and Logba facilities have been closed in the late 1980s. Each of the existing branches is self-supporting and can boast of close to two million Ghana cedis deposit level, with Kpedze and Kpeve for instance recording deposits of over two million Ghana Cedis.

Geographical location/setting: The bank operates in the middle section of the Volta region. The Head office Kpeve, which became the capital of the South Dayi District created in 2004, is strategically located at the junction of 3 major first class roads namely Have, Bame and Peki. Further, Kpeve is only 24km from the Volta Regional Capital, Ho and 32km from Kpando and 64km from Hohoe; the latter two known as vibrant commercial municipalities.

Kpeve which used to be a booming agricultural centre in the Colonial era has regained its past glory since it became a district capital. As noted earlier, most of the governmental agencies which had been relocated away in the 1960s have been relocated and a few new ones such as Education and Health Service have been added. Its’ once vibrant commercial activities have been rejuvenated. There are two market days every week; Tuesdays and Fridays. Other thriving markets in the area are located at Kpando, Dzemeni, Logba, Kpedze and Kpando Torkor. The Have market is picking up while Peki market is at the developmental stage.
